Focus Stacked Image of a Bumble Bee

I found this expired bumble bee laying on the lid of the trash can this morning and never wanting an opportunity to go to waste, I staged it for a focus stacking session. The bee is covered with hibiscus pollen and I can only imagine that the Queen kept sending it out to bring back nourishment for the hive time and time again until the little thing worked itself to death.

OMG!!! What an incredible photograph showing the poor thing covered with pollen.

Apparently OSHA should be notified about that Queen Bee to stop these needless deaths. The Bee Union bosses should also take note.

Dennis, working for a Queen can be very demanding as some married men would agree.

Thanks, Curmudgeon. Compared to honey bees, they are. Bumble bees are closely related to honeybees and most species of bumble bees live in colonies compared to hives like the honey bee. The bumble bee colony normally consists of around 50 – 150 individuals. This accounts for why we often see them in small numbers when they forage.
