Great shot, and a lovely specimen. I have never seen this variety before, let alone photograph it.
Google Lens (Chrome plugin on laptop and phone) says it's a Blue-eyed darner. I'll trust the AI since I have no other evidence to the contrary.

Thank you Sylvia. Thankfully he stayed put until I was able to get a couple of decent photos. Then as I tried to walk in a bit closer he flew off. That is the only one I have seen in years. Not too common here or at least not for me.

We get them on our pond but they are too flighty to get a shot!
