IANAE, but it looks like there is haloing in parts of the image. In download, it's apparent along the edges of cliff tops, etc.
Otherwise, it looks very nice (and a bit too dark in the shadows).

I hope you enjoy your journey into monochrome, Jack! Two very subjective thoughts:

- the vignette confines the scene, kind of the opposite of what I'd want to see with a massive canyon view.

- there are many small details and similar tones. For me, more selective contrast - such as lightening the river - would have more impact.

But again, those are my own preferences with b&w, just something for you to consider and then reject, if desired

My points, both previously mentioned. The vignetteing doesn't do you any favours. Perhaps you can get away with it in the bottom but certainly not the sky.
And when downloaded the outline on the ridge is very heavy.

But it's a great image - and we've all got to start somewhere.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Linda. I see what you mean about the vignette it really is confining isn't it. I almost never use vignettes in my color shots and I really don't know why I did here.

If I'm going to do this B&W stuff I guess I'm going to have to learn and use Control Points. Oh well just one more thing on the list

Thanks for commenting John. The heavy ridgeline came out of the camera that way and I have no idea how to fix it. Any suggestions will be most welcome

Thinks for commenting Bob. My intent was that the thing was the whole canyon.
