Very dramatic shot. What causes the halos between the buildings and the rain? Just curious.

Is this a composite, I only ask because of the white halo round the houses and there is white behind the trees where you would have though the rain would have shown behind them...

By far my favorite B&W of this millennium!
Since moving to AZ, I have seen downbursts knock down entire concrete block walls in an instant. 2 seasons ago, a subdivision in the Estrella mountains had roofs covered by blue tarps where tile roofs had been ripped up and damaged. The word monsoon never expressed to me the violence demonstrated by thunderstorms encountered here.
The halo effect doesn’t bother me, increasing contrast in the dark grey end of the spectrum really made the clouds pop. Love your image!
