Movavi

I use several Movavi programs, and they work very well. I tried making a slideshow with LR and two or three other programs. I finally bought Movavi Slideshow Maker, and it worked very well. Movavi makes all sorts of audio-visual programs, and they have good customer support. They sent me a list of my programs, their keys, and links to download them again. On advantage to using several programs from the same company is that they all work in a similar manner.

I agree. I've been a fan for years.

Jerry, how do you think it compares with ProShow Gold? Is it an adequate replacement?

ProShow Gold is gone. Unless you have it installed on your computer, it's dead. I tried to install it, but there are no servers to verify the key number, so I can't install it. It's been so long since I used PSG that I can't make a comparison, but Movavi is nice.

Thanks. I still have a working version of PSG but I'm afraid it'll crash and burn someday. Looking for a good and equivalent replacement without having to break the bank.

What is the output format these applications produce for the slide show? Is it a movie/video file of some sort?

Ooh! You're making me think! Although it's a slide show, it's still a video. There are lots of choices. Below is what you see when you click on Export.

I asked the question because my Significant Other produced an hour long slide show for our local NAACP chapter’s fund raising event in PowerPoint. She assembled still images, graphics, and video clips, along with audio and music, and saved the PowerPoint presentation as a movie file. She did all the work on a Mac Book laptop and ran the show on her laptop for the virtual event via Zoom. The versatility of PowerPoint, especially the ability to produce graphical content right in the production makes it an ideal slide show production tool. It provides a variety slide transitions and backgrounds. It supports

Windows Video (.asf)
Windows Video (.avi)
MP4 Video (.mp4, .m4v, .mov)
Movie (.mpg or .mpeg)
Adobe Flash (.swf)
Windows Media Video (.wmv)

She didn’t have that much experience with PowerPoint beyond making single page flyers and one page brochures. I was surprised by how much PowerPoint could do in her getting the production ready for prime time.

I don't have PowerPoint, and I've never used it. At my age, I'm afraid to learn too many new things because that will force the older knowledge out of my brain.
