That is the worst categorical condemnation of the Windows Operating System I've read on UHH and there have been many. I've been working with Windows operating systems since Win 3.1, and that's approximately 25+ years. I began with DOS in the early 80's. Sure, I've had a few minor scrapes, but no more than those experienced by Apple users who have reported software not functioning due to IOS upgrades. Your comment is not only misleading and inaccurate, it's stupid. I have had no Windows systems difficulty since Win 7 and very few prior issues, including Millennium. I upgraded to Win 10 within two weeks of it's initial offering and have experienced no issues and I see no evidence of negative experiences, other than USER errors, among my friends and UHH subscribers.
I suggest you do some research on the performance of Windows Operating systems before you make any more stupid comments.

I completely agree with you Mark.

Thank you! I try to be "non combative" on UHH, but that subscriber's comment was unwarranted, misleading and inaccurate. Inexcusable and irresponsible.

You think I am opinionated?? That is exactly what I was saying about the original post from Mongoose (looks like he has deleted his post). I actually believe that Apple products, PC's and Linux are all excellent products. None are as bad as suggested in the original post.

It’s a classic example of Festinger’s theory of cognitive dissonance - if it cost twice as much, it must be better or…

No, you erroneously inferred that.....
I was agreeing with you.

Will I have problems using my old laptop programs (PSE, printer drivers, etc) vs Win 10?
When I purchased a new Dell laptop that had Windows 11 installed, I did not experience any issues with either the Adobe programs I was using with Win 10 or any of the drivers that I needed to move over (Like those for my printer). In fact, I have not experienced any compatibility issues period with software or hardware. It would seem that if it works in Win 10 it will work in Win 11. Besides, Win 11 has a robust compatibility mode that will probably work around any issues that you experience with software.

Yes, I misread his response. My apologies.
I had originally planned on limping along on Win 10 and my Dell desktop "forever;" however, forever in hardware terms is usually around five years. When I replaced my Dell with another Dell, I went for the newer OS. I "lost" my Acrobat Pro 10, Word 2010, PS CS5, and my scanner refused to work. I did look for drivers for it (Canoscan), but for whatever reason, it wouldn't work.
My husband also upgraded his machine, and he got the Office subscription for multiple boxes. I'm not keen on the new interface, but at least I have Word and Excel. My scanner works with his laptop (Win10). I bought the 9.99/month Adobe PS/LR subscription. I'm still looking for a scanner that explicitly says it works with Win11 and doesn't cost a fortune.

If you go to the scanner manufacturer's support site, you can research that for whatever device you have or want to buy. In this case, the image below is telling me that Epson has a Windows 11-compatible scanner driver for the Perfection V600 scanner.

And I can attest to the fact that it works.

Well his post was certainly troll-like. This is a good discussion and but it could be easily derailed with that kind of post.
Yes I was trying to help.
I’m a Mac user but this is a Windows discussion and MacOS is irrelevant. So that post seemed like troll bait to me. I was trying to alert you to avoid going that rat hole. We all go down the rat hole sometimes, it can help to have a reminder on the topic at hand.

I just downloaded the drivers for my 2 printers, but that's about it. I did transfer about 5 GB of photos onto a flash drive yesterday and transferred them to my computer....took about 10 min. I don't really want to do that for the rest of the 1/2 TB of them I have. Talk about SLOW!!!! The new computer takes about 1/4 second or less to load a pic vs about 10 seconds with my old laptop, which a definite improvement, though. I went to one computer company near my church after I got an error message on the phone and they were out of business. The next place never called me back. I'll try another place before I call "Worst Buy" to find out their price n a data dump. At least I can use my printers.
