So far no one has understood the question posted as it is in the main photography section, or everyone is having fun with the question!

I understand the question or believe I do. You are asking if anyone still uses a speed light that fits onto the side of a camera and had the general appearance of a potato masher. I have never owned one of that type but do remember er them in common usage decades ago. I don't know if anyone makes them any more.

Never a lump when you use an electric hand-mixer.

Paul don't they make electric hand mixers in a mirrorless model nowadays? Asking for a friend.

I obviously misunderstood. Such a speedlight must be before my time since I've probably never seen one.

I still have one but it cannot be used on newer cameras because of the high trigger voltage.

It's a Metz 45 CT-1. You could take pictures from almost a block away back in the day.

My wife still uses a hand masher. Favorite dish is shepards pie - mashed potato, corn and ground hamburger then heated in the oven.

.... and topped with cheese before it goes in the oven?

Still have a couple and if I were setting up a permanent set up I may think about trying them again

I still have one made by Starblitz and use it when I need a flash on my RB67 ProS - perfect for a MF film camera. Mine actually has two heads, one which can be tilted and a small one which points straight ahead - if I remember correctly, you can use either or both.

That is, does anyone! I started to ask the question differently, but after posting, noticed my question turned into gutter language! Sorry.

I still have one but it is a double A battery hog and the only cameras I'd use it are my Rolleicord III and my Pentax 6x7. So it sits on a shelf, a monument to the past. But it WAS a hell of a flash unit in its day.

Had one years ago. Don't ask me where it is now.

I knew exactly what you were talking about. I used to want one but used old 283s instead back in the day.

I know what you mean. My first experience with large units was when I was in high school. We had a photo club that did the jobs of newspaper and yearbook photographers. We had a large unit, I can't remember the brand but it had a 10# battery pack (black on the bottom, blue on top). It was able to light action clear across the football field. Lots of fun carrying that thing around for two hours! When I was doing weddings, I used Metz 60-1s and found them to be extremely reliable and excellent at producing light without color shift. I also used a Metz 402 which is a little smaller unit but still excellent. I have a closet full of Paul Buff units from the 400 series up to the 1800 series. I don't do a lot of flash work anymore and recently sold off my Nikon SB800s -- 4 of them with an 800 master control unit. I have several Godox units a couple of Nissin units and a couple of smaller Nikon units. I'll never have to buy any more flash!

10# battery pack (black on the bottom, blue on top) sounds like Graflex. My boss had one when I was in my 20s. It looked like an ugly metal pocketbook.

I still have my Honeywell Strobonar 65D, with a 510-volt battery pack. I can't get the #497 battery pack any more, but it still flashes with the AC Adapter. The recycle time was 1 second with a fresh battery.
