This was in the Walmart parking lot Sunday. The car parked in front of me left and there it was. No camera so it is a cellphone photo. Anyone know what it is? Apparently it is in driving condition, even if it looks a little rough.

Next time, take more photos. front. back and the windshield... It looks like a late 1940s or early 50s GM ...

No idea what make it is. Someone has done some amature bodywork on the front fender, and the decorations indicate it was at one time a kid's car. It appears the owner dug it out of a barn or shed, inflated what was left of the tires and went for a ride. They must also have done some work on the motor. It's not likely they turned the key and drove away.

Just a wild guess. That front fender extending past the front door looks like a Cadillac to me as does the hood ornament - possibly a 1942? I’m sure there’s an antique car buff here that will immediately recognize it and tell me I’m full of it.

If i had to guess I’d say a ‘42 Chevy. That’s going by the rear tail lights and gas cap on the right rear. However, the ‘46s were pretty much identical, the final pre-war and initial post-war cars being basically the same. That was true for most automobile manufacturers
of that era, 43-45 years used building war machines and weapons.

The skull ornament on the trunk doesn’t appear to be OEM. And those tires appear to be 50s vintage. Really safe.

Oh, and the front and rear bumpers appear to not be as large and heavy as one would expect on a Caddie. Cadillac liked bumpers that could have taken out a railroad locomotive in a wreck.

That is a Chevy. I got to drive one in Driver's Ed class in the summer in my first year of High School.

I'm thinking a 1940-1948 Oldsmobile main due to the hood ornament and the 5 lug wheels

I'm thinking 1940-1948 Oldsmobile . due to the hood ornament and the 5 lug wheels, Chev, had 6 lugs until 1949
And My first driving car was a 1942 Chevrolet with US army id tags on it

Without seeing the front (for year), my eye says 1947 or 48 Chevrolet Stylemaster.

That is either a '47 or a '48 Chevy Fleetmaster. The blue one is a '47 and the tan one is a '48. Pratically indistinguishable as were many cars of that era.
