Hi all!
Just some shots from yesterday's 2022 NYC Bodypainting Day. Because of the extreme heat (the mid-90s) and bad light of the midday sun, the organizers used canopies to provide shade and a protective area for the artists and their models to work; all this was surrounded by barriers used by police to separate spectators from the participants.
Under the canopies, the results were more problematic: "open shade" light, flat in contrast and colors, bluish in nature and difficult to photograph the models and artists. I had to circle around 4 or 5 times to shoot and squeeze in between the spectators with cell phones. I only stayed for 20 minutes. "Mad dogs and Englishmen...and crazy photographers in the midday sun!" I used a 12 MP Nikon D3, 28-300mm F3.5 Nikkor, set to "ISO sensitivity," allowing the ISO to range from 400 to 1600 and "Picture Control" set to "Neutral, +1 contrast and +1 saturation." Luckily I was able to grab a few decent shots after editing them!
Be well! Ed
