I recently went with my wife to see a movie. Her choice was, “Where The Crawdads Sing.”
It was a great movie and the film was spot on perfect. I won’t spoil it for others but it was well worth the popcorn. I never read the book, and I didn’t even look at the reviews. My wife just dragged me out of the house.
What impressed me was the storyline, how filming complemented the story and how the actors and actresses were quite realistic. In the end, with a belly full of popcorn and soda, I was is belief of the story.
I definitely recommend this movie. You will not be disappointed.

I recently read an article that says the author of the book may be indicted for a murder that took place in Africa under the same conditions that appeared in her book! Apparently she was part of a family of mercenaries trying to stop elephant poaching, and they murdered a poacher! Apparently life was imitated by art, and she is under investigation!
I read the book thought it was good, my wife had got it on her audible books.

This I wasn’t aware of. But I stand a little confused. If the author was indicted for murder in Africa can she be present in America. She would have had to surrender her passport. But now that I am aware, I shall follow her exploits closely. Thank you.
It was still a great movie in my humble opinion.
After your remark, I hunted around to find a story around the accusation.
I do not believe an extradition treaty was ever signed and as such complicates a murder investigation. I do think that if a crime was committed, both parties should meet on neutral soil and each should discuss what is factual. Otherwise this would be tabloid fodder. A mediator from an outside source can insure both sides provide factual information.
The movie was still noteworthy to watch and the photography was exemplary.

Delia Owens is part of the investigation but she has not been indicted.
I have listened to the story twice on audio books and enjoyed it both times.
The review in the Seattle Times on Friday was 2 of 4 stars and the review had some good comments about the reality of the story and the aspects that were filmed in the movie. I will watch it at some point.
If Ms Delia Owens is innocent, she shouldn’t hesitate to appear before the Zambian Govt. I do believe that if there is a doubt about her innocence, it will affect sales of the book and the movie. From my vantage point, it was a great movie worth recommending.

I have the exact same story as yours. Wife dragged me out yadda, yadda yadda. I loved the film and would like to see it again. I highly recommend also.

I don't know anything about the Zambian government or their legal system. For that reason I would absolutely hesitate before I put my life in their hands.
I have started reading the book and absolutely love it.
Did not know there was a movie.
Thanks for the info.

The author of the book forgot the most important part of ridding elephant poachers which is, "If there is no body...there is no crime".
Delia Owens and her husband did work to prevent elephant poaching and were initially lauded for their work. After the film showing the shooting death of a presumed poacher, they both left Africa to return to the US.
I liked the book even though I predicted the "surprise" ending.
The film was spot on to the book.
