Relocated antenna, plus

I relocated my vertical antenna yesterday. On an amateur radio Facebook group, "I love QRP " it was suggested it was too close to the house.

Before relocating the noise level was almost always at S3. After relocating the noise level dropped to S1.

Hopefully I'll get better reception as well as transmit power out. Bands were quiet when I got a chance to listen last night.

Original location was about 3 feet from the house.

New location is about 16 feet from the house. Hopefully not too close to the fence and dumpster for the apartments behind us.

My wife got me a new gnome, a hedgehog and a "troll" which I think is a wizard.

Nice. I had my roof replaced in May, and need to re-install my off-center-fed dipole, but haven't got a chance to do so...

Thanks for looking and for your compliment and comment.

Hopefully you'll get your off-center-fed dipole replaced soon. 73s de N7MRF.

All the devices in houses (especially “wall warts”) can create lots of noise, so the further you can move your antenna away the better. Also, if you run high power, it’s a good idea to minimize RF exposure.

73 and happy DX to you,
DE K4CKB

It looks like at least 3 of you on this post are Hams. If you don't mind, could you post your callsigns and the frequencies you hang out on? I can often be found on 40, 17, or 10 in the evenings.

I am K4CKB and hold an Extra class license. I do satellite work (2M & 70cm SSB & FM) and chase DX on 20M (14.150 - 14.350 on SSB), typically closer to the lower end of the band. I sometimes work US special event stations, but am usually beaming northeast/east toward Europe and the Middle East and Africa and sometimes due south toward South America or north to Canada and Russia, and once in awhile, I work Australia long path. I’ve done most of the digital modes from plain old RTTY to FT8, but prefer voice QSOs. I was first licensed in the late 50s and returned to the hobby about 30 years ago. I’m an ARRL and AMSAT member.

It would be cool if other hams reading the tread would introduce themselves and maybe even post images of their antennas and/or stations.

I can highly recommend the NA4RR Hex Beam. It's relatively light, easy to assemble and performs well.
