Here's a good report on MPB Photo. And then there's another report. I wanted a shotgun mic for a Canon camcorder, but I didn't want to pay $200. Looking online, I saw one "Like New" at MPB for $76. It arrived in a few days, and it does look like new. My dog saw the fuzzy wind cover on it, and he thought it was a new toy for him. This is my first purchase from MPB, but I'll keep them in mind in the future.

On YouTube last night, I watched a couple of videos by Omar Gonzales, a photographer who discusses the photography. He had previously done a positive video about KEH, so he thought he should do one about MPB. He liked the fact that they posted pictures of the actual items for sale, rather than stock photos. MPB also posts the shutter count for cameras. He ordered a Canon 5D III. Rather than the five days promised, it took almost four weeks to arrive. The camera was beautiful, with the correct shutter count. Unfortunately, one of the dials worked inconsistently. He tried to phone MPB to return it, but it wasn't easy getting a person on the phone. Or maybe he did a Chat, instead.

Just for comparison, he called KEH, and he got through very quickly. Then he called B&H to order another used 5D, and he got through almost immediately. So, it seems that customer support/contact is a weak point with MPB. During the 25-day delivery time, there was no contact from MPB, nor was he able to find any info about it online. In my case, I placed the order online, and the mic arrived in a few days.

Glad you were satisfied with your purchase from them. In the past MBP has gotten good reviews. Post shutdown, the reviews have been mixed, good and bad. Something has changed with MBP.

Jerry, my experience buying from MPB has been a pleasant one. I have bought from them twice in the past but I have not bought anything lately.
The customer's service has been impeccable. This is the second time I hear of their poor customers' service and I wonder what could be going on. MPB has been a very reputable company.

MPB does state that they post photos of the actual item that’s for sale but I don’t think that is true in every case. I was looking at a black XPro3 on their site a couple of days ago and in the bottom view of the item you could clearly see the chrome of the top cover of a Dura Silver version of the XPro3.

"...On YouTube last night, I watched a couple of videos by Omar Gonzales..." Fake news from a wannabee influencer... why are you cluttering up this forum with "hearsay"? Are you actually too lazy to doing initial research?

To other UHH members: All major previously owned photo kit sellers/buyers are swimming upstream with the epic downturn in their sales... And this segment of the industry isn't alone...

FYI I just had a stellar transaction with mpb two days ago... and yes they are now primarily using email instead of real-time telephone (a cost cutting feature so they can pass the net gain in overhead on to their customers).

Honesty believe you seriously should consider to cease and desist your bashing of mpb and others in order to garner attention on UHH, personally I find your post can at times typically have little merit... a.k.a. grandstanding for attention.

Verified Reality: "In order to return your Item, you must email MPB US at contactus@mpb.com or call +1 646-513-4309 to obtain a Return Authorization Number." This worked for me on July 11 and again on July 14, 2022... FACT! Not hearsay!

Quoting the Scripture.... "He who is without sin, let them cast the first stone"
Sorry but you've gone just one step too far this time... mpb is a very trustworthy entity that like others in our industry is facing a significant headwind... My experience with mpb is if they don't get it right the first time they will indeed make it right! please find another "target" to vent on... Thank you for your thoughtful consideration here.

Please keep in mind ours is a very small industry... Word gets around on who is dishing others, and once blackballed it's a very long road out of that pit. Play nice or stay on the porch...

Wishing you all the best on your "Commercial Photography" endeavors

Something strange going on here. If you open Jerry’s listed site, it goes to www1.catskillcam.com instead of www.catskillcam.com. I’ve visited Jerry’s site several times in the past, and this isn’t it. Jerry’s is a non-commercial site with images of his hometown area, while this site is a completely different commercial site. I can tell you pretty definitively that Jerry is not a commercial photographer named Eric Gauvin. BTW, why did you revise your original post to remove that name and references to your mutual client as well as the photos you published. Why is that? Do you think perhaps there is some misinformation going on here?

BTW, it’s easy enough to let your website go and have someone else pick it up without removing references to it. It just reminded me that my old site, busch-design.com, is still listed as my website on my profile page even though I let it go years ago. Going to fix that right now.

I have been a fan of mpb and a frequent seller, trader & purchaser but am reading lots of bad reports on them recently.

There was a time when I was buying lots of items from MPB. Then one purchase was a little slow because it was actually an exchange for a returned item. They apologized for the delay and offered me something of value. I think they are a very well intentioned outfit trying to eke out a profit in a very difficult environment. While Thomas was little strong, I agree that too much pontificating is done in the name of making yourself sound important!

Yes, there is that, but this guy was just telling about his experiences with both KEH and MPB. His only negative comment was about the service - 25 days shipping and no phone contact; "Our menu options have changed." He liked the fact that they show the actual product, and they give the shutter count.

There are loads of YouTube channels discussing MPB, so take a look.

I have had a total of 14 transactions with MPB. 10 of these were purchases, 3 were sales of multiple items and 1 was a trade. Anything from used batteries to lenses and cameras. They were slow on a couple of these as they were making system changes. Obviously, I have found them good to deal with.

Sounds good - and MPB is more or less local for me (Brooklyn).
