Any neck camera strap for a D850 with vertical grip attached and a 300mm or larger lens attached is not good for your neck or back.
I would suggest a Cotton Carrier for such a set up.

I’m not big on those vests. I usually carry using a strap cross body. It not only takes the strain off my neck but it keeps the camera from bouncing around when I hike.

UpStrap - Quick secure releases, broad TOTALLY non-slip shoulder pad. If you do tripod work quick releases are a must, especially in windy conditions.

Actually Elch (or moose) hide is probably somewhat thicker and stronger than what we in the US would call the hide of an “Elk.” So, what is the name used in Germany, and elsewhere in Europe, for a comparable animal to the North American elk? Frank

I am looking for a camera strap that connects to the 2 lugs on each side of the camera. I also don’t want anything with a quick release. I would love leather or something that is comfortable around the neck. Using a Nikon D610 and D850 with motor drive and 300 mm lens or maybe a little larger. Thanks

They don’t have a similar animal in Europe. The European Red Deer is somewhat similar but genetically a different genus altogether. There are a few sub-species in Asia but strangely enough I usually see them called Wapiti which is the Shawnee word for elk.

Peak Design has always worked wonders for me.
I’m seriously looking at these Eddycam.
I do prefer something different/unique than when the option presents itself.

I agree. I don’t have to keep a strap on every body, just those I’m using. Also makes it easy to remove the strap when I’m on a tripod. I use both the Peak Design Slide and the Slide Lite.

I use the PD Slide Lite and lighter weight Leash straps. They meet my requirements 100%. The Slide is great for heavier bodies with larger lenses which I no longer have

"...Using large lenses you should support by the tripod collar as the lens weight can bend the contact ring per Nikon." Jeff Davidson

This... For a 70-200mm f/2.8 I use the Black Rapid like so many other Wedding and Event shooters...
Otherwise I use a hand strap... Absolutely never use a strap around my neck, period!

I like the look, feel and price of these classic straps:
