Yippi, just got my new computer, after 3 weeks of down time. Ran across this fun thread and thought I would throw in a few. Happy thanksgiving to all

Vinnie, there are so many people here that we may never run into all of them. Haven't see you before but really like the photos. I love running into new people here.
Yep, those ponies might be a good thing for kids now days, to get a chance to experience how sweet a horse can be. I was born and raised in a big city, but since the age of 30 have never missed it at all and would never go back to that.

I belive that horse is still alive some where, he's identical to every "kid on a horse picture" I've ever seen. I was born & raised in Santa Clara County, Ca. which was mostly orchards back then. In 1965 the Valley population exploded with many housing develpoements of 400-500 homes each were being built. In less than 5 yrs most of the agriculteral land was gone. My job forced me to stay there until I retired in 1988, at which time I quickly moved away to Ukiah, Ca. which is still small and mostly Ag. land. Best move I ever made, and San Francisco is only 2 hrs away if I need a big city fix

I think this might be a close cousin to your pony. This is my dad in 1933 in Milwaukee, WI. This may have been the point where he decided he wanted to be a farmer. He grew up in Milwaukee and actually made his living as an electrical engineer, but he did buy a farm when I was 12.

Cute photo of your dad, CM. I think that pony must have made a trip down to Mobile, Alabama too. I have a picture made in the 40's of a little neighbor boy on a pony that looks just like the one your dad's on. They must have brought along cowboy hats for the kids to wear while they rode, or maybe all the kids had them already :-) [quote=Country's Mama]

I am pretty sure that the photographer brought the outfits. I believe that is what my grandmother told me.
