Topaz Sharpen AI and Denoise AI

Here is an image that I applied Topaz Sharpen AI to. Quite amazing. I've found that either Denoise AI or Sharpen AI can do some spectacular stuff, but not all images.

Sharpen AI can give you excellent results on very soft or even slightly blurry images. It can save images that might otherwise be discarded.
In my experience, it is less useful if you are a raw shooter and process images that are already reasonably sharp. The sharpening tools of several of the better post processing programs available already do an excellent job, and in those cases Sharpen AI, as useful as it is, can be overkill and isn't really necessary

I am a big fan of these two products. I shoot RAW only. As part of the work flow, in the DeNoise I will start with the CLEAR option (No sharpening). Every photo gets this. As to Sharpen - only if needed and I have to be careful to not over sharpen.

I use Topaz Denoise AI on every picture. I use the manual settings. Only on flying images I'll use Topaz Sharpen AI, but I'll work thru all the settings untill I see a good one.

I've had the same experience. Shooting with a used (new to me) 24mm lens on a NJ beach I didn't realize the focusing wasn't working properly. I thought I was going to delete the entire shoot, but never got around to it. When Topaz Sharpen became available, I gave it a try. The results were amazing and I salvaged about 1/2 of the images.

When our film was replaced by a 3mp digital image, did we dream of the regular sharpen or denoise, NO! and now the world of AI has rapidly improved and works magic. More amazing is the AI in which we verbally tell what image we want. Also, the vague gravel image can be consolidated by Google to form a real image!!

I will perhaps go thru one more year of update expenses for my Topaz AI programs. Eventually, my computer may perceive a difference, but in reality, my eye/mind/&display will not reproduce the improvement.

Topaz does indeed in certain circumstances adjust the focus etc. However in using it with scanned slides of yester year i.e. back in the 50s & 60s, I am finding limited success & having to spend more time experimenting with various options, & often not going with the default preferences

Quite amazing I must say! Do they come packaged together or did you by separate? Curious if you only could buy one of the two (assuming they are separate) which would it be?

Go to the Topaz Labs website for more information on the products. It would be difficult for me to choose as it would have a lot to do with what I was shooting and the venue. Just a generic reply - if I was shooting a lot of low light venues requiring high ISO I would lean towards DeNoise. If I had good light and trying to capture moving subjects I would lean towards Sharpen. As I shoot both in both conditions, I am comfortable owning DeNoise and Sharpen.

I went with DeNoise and Sharpen. I use DeNoise on each shot I process and Sharpen as necessary. I later bought Gigapixel and have used it maybe 10 times.

Sharpen has rescued many of my old images and a few new ones. Gigapixel has allowed me to add resolution "after the fact" to some of my first digital images which I shot at below 1mp.

Has anyone been able to compare the results of DeNoise and DXO PureRaw 2? Or are these apples and oranges.
