Fellow hoggers:
My first attempt at astrophoto:
Almost full moon over Dallas (Over 100 for > 15 days)
Sigma 150-600 f/ 5.6-6.3 Nikon fc FTZ adapter
Targus TGT—66TR Tripod Manual exposure autofocus; lens vibration reduce on
f/8 1/400 ASA 1600
This is JPG full frame; plan to photoshop to get more detail brighter areas
In iPad see fair detail once excess black sky trimmed out
Please commend and give me ideas.
Had used this lens to get pictures of grandchildren in School plays; great but cumbersome
Thank you
Raw would have given you more scope for pushing and pulling in Photoshop.
Yes i think the same Have NEF file will photoshop soon
It is like vs using a negative
Many years ago did a lot of B&W slides great very fine grain but tendency to high contrast

Nice capture. You're right about P/S to add a little highlight. Play with other camera settings and see what the results are. Practice makes perfect.

please tell us how you captured this amazing!

Don't expect to get one of these unless you have access to Hubble.

Lightroom is your friend for Lunar and Solar images (see

Just remember to shoot multiple subs and select the best for postprocessing. The atmosphere can play havoc with stellar images.
