Fabulous set, Cindy, and loved the story of the near miss of a $40 million payout.

Thanks Joe...I really enjoy reading about the history of an area I am exploring.

Nice photos and very interesting history, thanks. Don’t know what it is but the 5th image looks like a double pizza oven. Probably not.

Thanks....I have no idea what that thing is in the 5th picture but I know it's not a pizza oven from back in the late 1800's...lol

Awesome set, Cindy. We have some historic places down here but they aren't hard to get to!

Thanks Ken....there is a sign at the bottom of the mountain that states "enter at your own risk, road is not maintained for travel"....so not many people venture further.

It sure is a great photo op! Lots of old machinery, old buildings and such along the old trails around the mountain.

Took the drive up the mountain outside of Phillipsburg MT to the old Granite Ghost Town. At the height of the Silver boomin 1890...this mine had over 3000 men working at it. The road up gains over 1200 ft and is very windy and narrow and UNMAINTAINED....it's one nasty road but was fun getting up there!

This was the richest silver mine on earth, and it might never have been discovered if a telegram from the east hadn't been delayed. The miner's backers thought the venture was hopeless and ordered an end to its operation, but since that message was delayed the miners worked on and the last blast on the last shift uncovered a bonanza, which yielded $40,000,000.
Took the drive up the mountain outside of Phillips... (show quote)

Story telling with the eyes! Very nicely done. No visual over-load yet concise narrative. Have you selected a publisher yet?
