I subscribe to Prime Video and access it through ROKU. The movie Top Gun Maverick is available on Prime, but ROKU says it’s unavailable. “When it is, they will tell us”. Wonder why I can’t view it directly through Prime? I have a Smart TV which came with ROKU so I use that for selecting all channels. Can I just turn off ROKU and access Prime directly?

You will have to install the prime app then you don't need Roku. I have a few apps installed on my TV. Go to the app store on your TV and download the Amazon prime app

Preorder only. I went directly to Amazon Prime. You can purchase it on August 22. Movies like this one are not going to be free.

If there were ever a movie that should be seen on the biggest screen at a movie theater, it's Top Gun Maverick. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was amazing.

I was going to suggest that for someone who doesn't want to wait to watch it at home, especially when they're going to charge you 20 bucks to buy the movie, and you won't get the same experience on a TV.

That’s a movie that is a must to see in the theater!

Just a head-up to all of us streamers out there who have trouble remembering what is on where. Try:

https://www.justwatch.com/

A free website that tracks most all movies, TV shows, and series on all the streaming services. I've found it very helpful and it has a "Notify" button that will email you a notice when a particular movie becomes available to stream.

That's because ROKU only shows content that is already free out there...

That's a brand new movie...no one watches for free.

Except me...(cough).

There are ways.

Download Prime app on Roku and watch from there. Ditto for Netflix etc.

I have Amazon Prime Video and access through the computer. I just viewed Top Gun a few days ago and it was free. I have noted that many videos on Prime cost money and a short time later they go for free, then return to a small coast again, only to become free again. Because they are re-runs I just view when they become free.

In my experience, first run movies are not going to be free. The original Top Gun movie is quite old now. Offering it free might generate interest in buying the new movie.

Top Gun is free.

Top Gun Maverick is not.

I agree that there are ways to watch and even download it

Thanks all for your responses. I think I'll check out our IMAX theatre to see if it is running. Otherwise I'll wait until it is available on ROKU.

One thing I don't like about Prime TV is clicking on a movie and seeing that they want me to pay for it.
