Nice. I remember when they were new. I had a 1965 427 Ford.

They remind me of the GTO wannabe that I once owned, a 1965 Pontiac Tempest Les Mans. It wasn't the GTO but its body style it was almost the same and with the 326 it was pretty quick.

I just “loved” the sound of those cars, especially riding down the avenues on date night.
In 1966 when I was stationed on the Navy base in Long Beach, CA, premium gas was 13 cents a gallon. In town it was 22 cents a gallon.

I had a '63 Galaxie with the dual quad 427. Heavy and big car, but that 427 had so much torque. 4 spd tranny, I think a Borg Warner T-10 but That was way too far back to remember. I put a couple of clutch discs in it. Too much youthful exuberance, I guess.

Nice sharp and well exposed imagery of nice lookin' cars.

However, I can understand triple carbs on a 12, a 6 and a triple,
but not on an 8... Why have 3 carbs on an 8 cylinder engine??? when a pair of 4 barrels is perfect.
A pair of Holly 650 double pumpers for example.

The "tri power" setup was very popular on some GM pony cars. I had a '60 Impala 348 c.i. with three deuces for a brief time. Never could get the progressive linkage to work right.

P.S.; The 348 started life as a dump truck motor and was never gonna be a performance engine.

348 gave birth to the 409 that had bottom end problems that then became the 427 with a beefed up crank and bottom end.. and it to was used as a truck engine in C70 semi tractors. Chrysler also did the Tri power with 340 and 440 engines with 3 deuces.

I've seen several 3 deuce 340s, but I think the only 440s I've seen had either a single or dual 4 barrels.
