RF 24-105 hands down. Great quality and good walk around range. I'm in no rush to replace my 16-35 lens or my telephoto since they are needed so much less often. Some day I will want the RF 100-500.

I own the Canon R5 and simply love it. The Canon RF L lens line up is amazing but also pricey. I was wondering what folks might choose if they could only have one RF L lens.
Thanks to those that share their thoughts. Cheers!
If I had a R camera, I would want the 24-240mm - but it is not an L lens
.
I would want an RF 50mm f/1.8, but it is not an L lens either.
Canon 24-70mm ultrasonic 95% of the time.

I have the RF 24-105L F4 IS and it gets the nod for the most versatile, practical, and ONLY travel lens. Photographically speaking, I travel light, with just one lens/body.
Keep in mind that this lens is an F4 at 24mm through 105mm with Image Stabilization.
Couple the RF 24-105L F4 IS with the R5, with IBIS and good low light performance, makes this a very good pairing.
I also have the Canon R5 (IBIS) and an RF 100-500L IS that stays on that body.
This combo is currently the most used locally in a very rural area for landscapes and flowers.
Yes, it will focus close enough to fill the frame when shooting flowers.
This lens will do in a pinch indoors on the R5 (IBIS) body. Just no group photos please, grin.
Full disclosure: the RF 100-500 L is new and benefits from the "Halo Effect".
While I Love both, they each have definite but sometimes overlapping applications.
However, they both make me . . . .

Yes, I have seen the Imatest numbers - it beats the Nikon 24-200 by a little !

The RF 24-105mm f4 L. Use it 80% of the time. Great lens and I love it.
I’ve got several RF lenses.
canon rf 100-500 L
canon rf 28-70 L
canon rf 70-200 L
canon rf 100-500 L
Canon rf 100 macro
Canon rf 24-105
The 100-500 is used 85% and the 28-70 is about 10%. The rest is divided. Love the 100-500.
If they come out with an rf 600L I’d get that. I’ve got the EF400 2.8L and love it.

Would certainly hope so since it appears you have two of them ... So, is that only 85% or should that actually be 170 % ?
Do you carry them on two bodies so you never hafta swap lenses, mebbe like as illustrated here below ? Certainly doubly obvious that if you were replying to the OPs specific question, then the 100-500 would clearly be "
The One".
I’ve only got 1. That was a mistype

My favorite L series lens is my Canon 24-70mm-f2.8L-II-USM. Photograph quality is as good as a prime lens. If the 24-105 had the same quality, I'd be shooting it for the longer reach, but alas. I also have four other L series lens. They are all worth the cost.
I choose the RF 24-240mm lens when I first got the R5. Superb all-around lens with great range in focal length. Although it is a heavy lens. Since I'm a wildlife/nature photographer, I have the RF 100-500mm lens. It is fantastic at both distant telephoto and for close-up work. Probably between the two lenses, I use them about 60/40, with the 100-500mm the most now that I see how good it is at close focusing.

Maybe subconsciously saying how very important that lens really is for you ;-)
Kinda like ghost writing except its from within instead of from "out there" .....
