When I download a new batch of photos to PSE organizer (2019) it creates a new folder named by its download date, usually all I need, though I may add a descriptive word to the date in the folder name.
Occasionally, I want to make an entirely new folder, for example, to contain jpegs to send to an organization that I volunteer with, so I don't have to search through multiple folders to find all of them. I seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel every time I do this, and I spent way more time on it yesterday than I wanted to. Is there an easy way to create a new empty folder in PSE, that I can drag the selected images into? Should I instead make a new folder in windows/pictures, which is easy, but must I move all the photos to it in windows as well, before I can import it into PSE?
Thanks for your help!
I'm not sure that this is the right answer for you...But I prefer using the albums and various categories for them in my PSE Organizer. Whether creating a new album or dragging to an existing album on the left side, I drag and drop from one album to the other (via the screen), or directly from the Organizer. I assume this works with the Folders also.

When I download a new batch of photos to PSE organ... (
show quote)
Not sure if my method helps, but here it is:
I only create folders in Windows Explorer. My main folder is, "T:/Photos 1-14-16 where T:/ is a dedicated internal SSD. When I installed PSE Organizer, I imported my main folder. When I import images from a memory card I do so via Windows Explorer, create a sub folder in T:/Photos 1-14-16. That new folder always displays in PSE Organizer.
Maybe this helps?
Mark
I don’t have the exact steps but you can create a copy of your target photos within PSE using the Files menu, then browse to where you want the photos to go, create a new sub-folder there and place the copies into it. Do this all inside the Organizer so it will know where your photo copies are.

I also then export prepared albums to Dropbox, making a New Folder, which I rename and send, via link, to Friends and Family.

Gvarner, your answer got me where I wanted to go! I could not for the life of me remember where to go to create a new folder, and apparently when I searched PSE for the answer I didn't ask the question the correct way. I've now made a workflow document and added this to it, so when I need it again months from now, I'm not starting from scratch again.

Bubbee, thanks for the idea. I haven't used albums, just folders, but I may will look into it. For now, one of the other Hoggers made a suggestion that led me right where I needed to do what I wanted.

Glad to be of help. It’s frustrating to forget where stuff is.

Great! Whatever works! I keep learning new things in PSE. I just discovered how easy it is to make collages! Amazing!
