This photo was apparently taken on June 23 during the current hearings. It was posted by a friend of mine on another site.

I enjoyed seeing the photographer centrally located in the frame and I rather humorously enjoyed the 'chimp' on the right.

I don't quite understand why people look down upon "chimping". Isn't that how you are supposed to ensure that you exposed properly? My camera playback is set to display the shot's histogram. The LCD display can be deceiving at times, but look at the histogram.

SMDH.

Histogram will tell you if the exposure is technically correct but it won't tell you if the subject blinked their eyes when the technically correct exposure was taken.

The chimper is potentially missing photo opportunities. (Or perhaps he is simply trying to figure out the camera's menu?)

The Chiper could also be picking which pics to send to his boss, so he gets paid :)

George, only people who don't know their cameras or don't know themselves chimp. If one is thoroughly familiar with their camera and how it performs needs to rely on visual confirmation.

The only time I look at my camera's playback is during initial meticulous testing. After I know the camera's capabilities, I can place a given luminance value in the Zone I wish and make the exposure I want. I don't need to "check" to see if "I got it".

I've found the histogram to be, essentially, useless in my photography. That is unless I'm doing lab tests. Once I know my camera's capabilities, the histogram may be used during the processing of the photo.

As for the subject blinking their eyes, these news guys are taking dozens of pictures per minute. I'm sure they'll have one without the subjects eyes closed.

Ditto. I don’t get that either. As you say, I check my exposure.

Well, lucky you! I know my cameras and myself very well and I "chimp" on a regular basis. But not during the peak of the action!
