Cell Phone Cameras

I've seen a number of posts that have included a photo taken with a cell phone and the poster seemed apologetic for having done so.
Here is a link to the "International iPhone Photography Awards". There are some amazing shots on that site and they are presently accepting entries for the 2023 contest.
Personally, I don't see an issue with cell phone pictures. To me, it's no different than using a camera on full auto.

For me a picture is a picture.
The device used to capture it is irrelevant.

Those are wonderful images on the web site and I don't think anyone here would disagree with your assessment. A common response to "What's the best camera?" is "It's the one you have with you at the time." I've used my smart phone camera for photos I've posted here and no one commented about poor quality. As you noted, a smart phone is basically limited to being an automatic point & shoot camera and it has many other limitations a DSLR or mirrorless does not. As my artist wife would say, "It's not the quality of the brush but rather the skill of the artist."

My Note20 has the standard Samsung Camera App. In Pro Mode, I can customize ISO, Speed, EV, Focus, and WB.
Most often, I just set it to AutoHDR and let the Camera do the rest.
In particular, I like the shooting choices. "Food Mode" is great for capturing flowers.

I don't use my phone for photography. Nothing against them, but they aren't as flexible as cameras. They take reasonable photos under good conditions, but capable cameras produce good photos even under adverse conditions. Worth the lugging around IMHO!
