Hey Ben, good video. I also looked at his piece on how he is received when he is walking his dog. His point was that people appreciate being acknowledged. I used to work at a facility where people were in treatment. We had all sorts of classes to help folks to successfully transfer back into a community setting including relationship and social skill classes. I would tell my clients at the beginning of class that we would be talking about a lot of things about what to do and what to avoid, but what really matters to people is that they want to feel welcomed and included. You can dot all your "I's" and cross all your "T's", but if you do not care about the person you are with, then all your "proper" behavior won't matter. And on the what not to do side, I reminded them (and myself by extension) that a person can make themselves a big enough pain in the backside, that people will get wore out with you and that we would be talking about how not to be that person. Thanks for your post.

Dude, no way at all you hurt my feelings. I just responded to your comment that I thought was stupid.
Yes this is a Photography centered site but the General Chit-Chat is open to general discussion, if I am wrong, well spank me. I notice comments sometimes that seem to come from 'thin-skinned' members, and there are not that many I hope. Because this is a world wide forum open, some get too full of themselves and take a simple comment or post and turn the post into a drama fest or even worse, a monkey shit fight. Then the thread winds up in the attic.
So, the OP is free to post his weekly message, if I agree or not is not important to me, we should ALL feel free to post in the chit-chat freely.
My words to you is: chill out and have a cold one.
Bruce tha loose in Texas.

Tom, read me. I am not upset at all. Why do you persist on this.
Don't you have something better to do ? I am only replying to you while I regroup grabbing stuff for my plants.
It is over 100 degrees here in Texas and my patio plants need some love. Peace out bro.

In response to the comments about religion on a photographic site, I bet there are "religious sites" where occasionally discussions of doctrine are set aside for a chat about photography. In an earlier response I talked about working with clients in restrictive setting who were working to be allowed to return to the community. My first post was about working on positive skills and attitudes that would help ensure their success. In my discussions I would also ask the class members who they thought would have the greater chance of being successful in remaining out in the community, the person who didn't have any friends or the person who had friends they could turn to for help and advice or just company. They all knew the answer to that question. In light of that, I would suggest that it was not my place to direct them toward a church, and that in fact I was not churchgoer myself, but that I knew many of them probably would want to attend a church. My advice to them was not be concerned with doctrine, but to look for one where they would feel welcome and where if they happened to miss someone would call and check on them. I think that helping folks to feel welcome is a good thing whether it is in a church or on a photo forum. If someone should get too preachy, I wouldn't visit their response just as I don't visit church.
