I'm going for a colonoscopy on Thursday - my third or fourth. Looking at the list of food and drink I have to avoid, I'm afraid to consume anything but water for the next three days. I should be able to get by on just water for three days, right?
There are other liquids besides water😳

Clear Jello is allowed too, if you like it.

Yes. Just had mine along with endoscopy. Glad they used two separate tubes. :) Jerry I survived on chicken broth, and jello up until the night before when the fasting started.
Everything will work out in the end. (I know thats a bad pun)
Good luck Jerry.

I don't have an answer for that but I can feel your pain. Friday I'm having a TKR done. That's Total Knee Replacement. I can't drink alcohol after today and there goes my Friday afternoon beer too!

Jello calms the taste buds!
Hey, the 'prep' is a 'cakewalk'! I have a friend in Canada where they do not let you have anesthesia... Now, that's a test of a man!!!

In our country, the water cleansing diet became a fad many years ago where they regularly do water diets for up to a week. No one was reported dead so a few days on only water should be fine.
I've been hospitalized where the subsistence is only the dextrose bottle for several days. Liquid diet for a few days seems to be ok.
When I had an operation, the doctor assured me that it was very safe that it was almost routine.
Something like only 1 in 1000 is expected to have complications, and that he'd already done 999 and it was all good.
Good luck!

I've heard it somewhere that the difference between the oral & rectal thermometer is the taste.
When I had mine (all three) I was allowed to have jello any flavor except anything red and then cream of chicken soup and water. The first one was the worst one, the prep tasted really bad and I did an intimation of the Shuttle craft blasting off. The last two were a cake walk in comparison, prep wasn't too bad and it was like I had diarrhea. The third was even better. For all three I was out, out, out.
Your doing the right thing Jerry. Keep that cancer in check
go for some corn on the cob and BBQ ribs. That won't make the doctor happy but you will not be hungry for the next 3 days :)

My doctor made me really happy when she told me that colonoscopies are not needed over age 70.
For my first one I had to drink a gallon of goo. For the last one, it was 4 liters.
Ah, the 'advantages' of the metric system.
My wife had both an upper and lower GI procedure a week ago and I have them coming up later this summer.
The new prep (plenvu) is a lot better than the old gallon jug one, it was around $65 but probably not covered by insurance. You drink 16 ounces of a solution two times, one in the evening and one about 5 hours before your procedure, both times followed by several glasses of water. My wife says it mostly tastes like salt.
Oh, and she could drink any clear liquid, including white grape juice or apple juice, and even soda, up until 2 hours before the procedure.

You can drink GatorAid (not red), Pedialite, and eat clear broths and Jello (again not red). I wouldn’t go with straight water for days - that could be dangerous if your electrolytes get off.
