Yes, that is true. When I was a kid, we had a dog who was mean - even to the point of biting family members if something was not to his liking. He was medium small, but not afraid of anybody or anything! When a relative would visit, with her young baby, they loved to play together. In playing, he would "bite" her - but so gently that it would not even leave a mark. She could pull his tail, or do anything she wanted, and he was fine with it. He also was the smartest dog I ever saw - MUCH smarter than most people!!!

House dogs are also handy for cleaning up food babies spill onto the floor. After a co-worker’s little girl would smear food all over herself, he’d set her on the porch and let his bird dogs lick her clean. She laughed incessantly, the dogs were happy and he didn’t have to clean her up. A win-win all the way around.
