It definitely had some suspension work done on it. It sat lower than it normally would, but very nice car. The tinted windows gave it a different look also.
I'm guessing the mirrors were some sort of add-on, but don't know if it's from clear out of left-field, or was it some kind of factory option that I just never saw before? They look like the mirrors I remember on an old Divco milk truck.
I think my terminology is right in reference to this sort of rebuild when I say resto-mod, meaning restored and modified if I'm correct. I had a guy at a small local car show change my thinking about them. He mentioned that he drove his beautiful '56 Nomad Wagon about 20K miles a year and that it was his daily driver. When I indicated I would never do that he asked me how much a new 'Vette would cost and I replied about $30K (back awhile), he said that was about what he had in his rebuild as it had late-model 'everything' (suspension, engine, trans, modern A/C, tires & wheels, power steering, etc.) He said it was more comfortable than a 'Vette and was certainly a less common sight. I shut up, 'cause he was right. 😉
A real gem...wish I had the '56 white over black Belair my grandfolks used to have!

I had a 57 also but for some reason (probably old age) I don' t remember those chrome darts? on the hood. Do you recall if all 57s had them?

Do a Google Search (DAGS) for '57 Chevy and images and it seems they do.
