Very nice set of wheels. Might be of interest to stand next to it when the engine fires, chances are it is NOT the original engine. In this era mirrors were an after-thought, these appear to be from the J. C. Whitney catalog. Obviously the Craegers are added but it has that "original" look. Too young be a "museum piece" and too old for a "daily driver." Attracks attention wherever it goes.

Be still my heart!! Probably my most favorite car of all time! If it was mine I’ll be damned if I’d park it between two other cars - park in the back forty of the parking lot or parallel park only!

Lovely shot!

I too had several from that era and this one looks pretty stock aside from the wheels and maybe the suspension, so resto-mod, maybe? Point is, I don't remember those side view mirrors. What I remember was at the bottom of the wing vent. Anybody have some insight into this? Nice pic! 👍👍

The mirrors you note are commonly referred to as "Peep Mirrors" and are commonly used on Streetrods and Custom cars.

Actually, I think that type of mirror was outlawed after it was determined that pedestrians were hit because the driver's vision was blocked by the mirror.

I once owned this exact red & white Bel-Air. Did not realize how special it was at the time. It's the only car I have ever owned that I should never have sold. Big mistake.

Gorgeous car. I owned a 1956 Chevrolet one time. It was a station wagon.

Same here - I also owned a black & white '56 Chevy sedan but my favorite is still a '57 Chevy.

Ditto. '57 often cited as the favorite, but '56 and '55 have that one beat by a mile. I owned a '55 Ford Crown Vic, and would have liked the Chevy instead. The Ford looked great but was really a piece of junk.

Nice Pic of a really nice car.

A beauty. The '56 has always been my favorite of the tri fives.
