Shot on a tripod at a distance of 4 miles. I was at Ala Moana Beach Park and someone asked me how powerful was the lens .., I sad I can see and count the people on top of Diamond Head look out .., the guy said no way ..!

So I took the shot ..there was a lot of heat waves , but it came out , you can count the people with ease .., the guy was shocked …

A simple Nikon 200-500 5.6 with a mint D7200 …which gives it 750mm ..one of the 5 times a year I used the tripod ..

Excellent clarity from that distance Doc. Surprised that there's not more atmospheric distortion given the warm air.

Here’s my problem …., a week ago .. I used my Used Pristine D7200 $700 and the same 200-500 5.6 lens to take an identical shot from the same area 4 miles away and the same post editing and got a better shot ..

You would expect my $3700 D850 to produce the clearer shot cropped with the same lens … and same post editing ..

I shot 6 shots with each camera using the same location and lens , but diff days … years ago doing moon shots.., I noticed my D7200 with the 200-500 5.6 could actually produce a clearer shot than the same lens on my D850 .. so what gives ..?

It why to this day I carry my D850 with primes and my D7200 exclusively with my Nikon 200-500 5.6 ..!

Along with fellow Boy Scouts, I climbed a circular stairway and exited "at the top" and believe that the exit point was the gun emplacement on left that appears in the final photo.
