I am considering buying the Leica Q2, but I have a question. Does the Q2 have an output port (USB or similar) from which you can download photos through a cable directly into your computer? What i have seen so far seems to indicate that you have to use a Leica app on your phone to download from the camera into the phone, which doesn't make sense.

Any comments? Any comments in general on the Q2, especially quality control?

Thank you.

Why not just read the manual to get a 'for sure' answer.

Because I don't want to download the program that is required to download the manual. Do you know the answer to my question?

Its the same program you use to access and use UHH...your browser

Do I know the answer? No...if you aren't interested in looking it up, then neither am I.

Good Luck

What program do you need to get the manual? Sure you need the Adobe Reader to open it but you don't need nothing more than your internet browser which you need to post

I am a bit busy right now but I will read the manual and find the answer for you. I don't mind.

I understand, and I used your link to download the manual, since I use Adobe regularly. The previous answer would have required me to download a separate program just to download the manual.

If I read this correctly, there is no USB port on the Q2 and the only way to download files from the camera is to use your smartphone and an app, which seems really impractical. Then you still have to download from the phone to the computer, and I doubt most phones will have the capacity to download a hundred photos at a time. Very strange way of dealing with that issue. Every other digital camera that I know has a USB port in its side and you can download directly from the camera into a computer.

Thanks for your help

You're right. There is no USB for downloading the images. You can use the app or remove the SD card and use a card reader connected to the PC via USB.

OK, thanks. I think that was a dumb design decision by Leica, and helps me to decide against the Q2 and in favor of Sony RXR1 ii.

But I never use the USB port on my camera. I always remove the memory card and use a card reader. So I don't think I will miss the USB port but I wouldn't use the phone app either.

They tend to occur when provoked ....

May I suggest that you adjust your threshold for being provoked? I asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer. The website you steered me to is one I have seen before, and it makes you download their own program before you can download the file you want. I don't trust websites like that, for good reason. The next guy who answered me sent me to a site where I could download the files as PDFs with no other programs; much safer.

Yes manuallibs.com is not a good place to get the manual. For something current like the Q2 the manufacturer's website is the best place.

I have a Q2. It’s an incredible camera
No ports of any sort. I simply remove SD card and put it in a card reader
It’s easy and quick and worth it for the high quality images. It’s a fabulous small full frame 47 megapixel camera
A few of my photography friends have them and love them

You do not need to use the Fotos app ... unless you want to transfer your photos to your phone (or control the camera from your phone). If you want your photos on your computer, simply pull out the SD card and do what you do with any other digital camera.
