In regard to laying on the ground for low level shots: I don't; that is, I put the camera on a tri/mono pod and hold it upside down, resting the camera top/prism on my shoe - camera direction and tilt controlled much like a "selfie stick"; a wireless release does the rest. This works great for extra height, too. Don't try to crop too close and shoot in bursts. Obviously, one must rotate the image 180 degrees afterwards, but that's an easy "batch" operation.

I forgot about inverting the tri-pod, haven't done it in a long time. Good idea. 👍
