I will assume he actually believed that comment so I will not call him a liar...he is just uninformed as usual. Citizens could buy cannons at the time, was no law against it...just not many did as they were expensive and not generally used around the farm.
Lets Go Brandon.
I am well aware of why one can't debate firarms issues with most liberals...their leader runs around spewing mistruths. Kinda like his comment that a 9mm pistol is a high powered weapon that will blow the lungs out of you, and nobody needs to own such a powerful weapon. Expressions of utter ignorance like this and ignorant comments about the Constitution not being absolute help get his followers lathered up on pure bs, but they think its true cause their leader said it.
Kinda like the die hard trumpeteers.

The slavery bit given to you was a very poor example.
Its almost like we’re being set up to accept further infringements. Crazy times we live in. There was a time when liberals would be objecting to what Biden said.

Support the entire Constitution, not just the parts you like.
Common sense is only right wing if you are too far to the left.

I’m not sure any is coming close to saying that.
The original post claimed it was said the is not absolute.
Different people are viewing that statement differently. None really wrong - so time for every to talk sensibly
1. Yes 2A says shall not be infringed But throughout our American history that has not been without implementing law governing 2A, background. Checks - felons- age etc .
2. The constitution is the law of the land but but it has the method to be amended . So absolute must be viewed as a snap shot as it currently is .not that it can’t be changed

“”” But no amendment — no amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell crowd — you can’t tell [yell]* “fire” in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech. From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning that the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons. So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution

You're a nut Denny, Biden is suggesting that he can regulate the bill of rights! Do you really want a government that can do as it pleases without the guardrails set forth in the constitution? No, you did not say that but your defense of the bumblers statements suggest that you agree with him.

Your head is stuck In that political dark pkace again.
And what do you think as has been done since 1930
- citizens can’t own full automatics
- back ground checks
- felons can’t own guns
- CCW license
- different laws different states
-“ assault “ weapons bans
Its a long list . Government actions.
Wake up .

Not the same as Biden claiming that he can change the constitution via executive order.

It's implied when he says that the second amendment is not absolute.
It's ironic that the politicians argue about what the second amendment grants the citizenry as it does not grant citizens anything but rather it explains that the right is already presumed to exist and the second amendment actually states that the federal government cannot take or infringe the right.

Listen I am not a biden fan. He is doddering old man that belong a beach or in a bingo parlor somewhere but I am a fan of honesty.
And 2A is certainly not absolute evidenced by all the rules applied since the first gun laws of 1930’s.
- background checks
- age requirement
- “assault “ weapons ban
- felon restrictions
You’re right that 2A does not grant rights it only supposedly makes taking those rights away illegal.
So how can felon not be allowed a to own a weapon .
The point is 2A is not absolute
Be honest.

If the 2nd is not absolute, then neither is the 1st, or 3rd, or 5th...etc.
His comments reflect an attitude that the Constitution is just a bunch of suggestions.

Then why do we have back ground checks , age restrictions, ccw license requirements ?
There’s nothing wrong with disliking Biden , I don’t either.. but be honest .

None of which are done by the federal government
Each state has their own rules.

No, YOU wake up.
Citizens MAY own full automatic weapons, machine guns. Where did you ever get the idea we cannot?
Background checks have been implemented whereas many states used to have a 10-15 waiting period. Background checks can be almost instantaneous depending on the backlog of DOJ.
Felons still can’t own firearms but some states are thinking of doing away with idea.
While many states offer CCW. permits many other states offer permit less carry.
Of course there are different laws in different states.

Full auto Yes and they have to have a license “ issued by the federal government. Federal law
2A
Has been incorporated which means it applies to states also
Federal government law requires back ground check on all guns sold by ffl’s.. federal law
Federal govt criminals and certain can not own a gun by federal law not just state law
So don’t try to say federal govt has not worked 2A.
