What happens to my images if I cancel my $9.99 going to Adobe every month?

Nothing happens to your images if you are using Lightroom Classic, your images are on your computer.

Your images will be there as long as you don't have them all saved to the Adobe Cloud, that is, However, if you have no Photoshop on your computer and saved files in a Photoshop format, you will no longer be able to open them. I never agreed to the monthly ransom so kept my old owned CS6 all these years and can use it as long as it will work on my Laptop.

I also am still using CS6. I am running it on my Windows 10 Dell tower. I archive and backup my image files to External drives. None of the cloud storage for me thus far for Adobe or Microsoft. I have been using this owned 2012 DVD sourced Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on my last two computers. Though I am on my file version of ACR that will work with my cameras and computer.

I don't think that's entirely accurate and a common misconception that you lose everything if you stop the subscription. You still have access and a working Library module in Lightroom Classic, which comes with the PS subscription. The online version of LR will still store and download for a year.

Lightroom Classic images
You can continue to access all your photos on your local hard drive through Lightroom for the desktop. You can continue to import and organize photos and output your edited photos through Export, Publish, Print, Web, or Slideshow. Access to the Develop & Map modules and Lightroom for mobile is not available after your membership ends.

And, your edits are not lost, although you cannot do further edits without a subscription, and you can still export the already-edited photos.

You do NOT have to have Adobe software in order to open PSD files. There are a number of programs which will do it!

Everything in your LrC Catalog is still available you just won't be able to make any adjustments. Anything in "The Cloud" will disappear after a fixed time interval.

Further to my comment - not only is it possible to open a PSD file, the file can be processed without Adobe software!!! I just processed a PSD file in ON1 with no problem whatsoever!!!

Nothing. I store all my images myself.
