Epson Artisan 1430 versus Canon Pro 9000 MK II?

I need to replace my Epson Workforce 1100 wide format photo printer, and cannot decide between the Epson 1430 and the Canon Pro 9000 MK II.
On-line reviews do not clearly or consistently state which is "better.", and comparisons between these two wide format photo printers are too variable to deduce a clear "winner."
Does anyone have experience with both?
What has been your evaluation as to which is preferable, and why?

I had the same delimma - could find no clear distinction between the two. So, I bout the less expensive, the Canon Pro9000. Have had no regrets
I bought the Canon pro9000 also. Couldnt find Put which was a better machine. The pro9000 does everything I wanted

Seems like the Canon which I love is about to become a past model. Going very cheap at 1/2 its intro price and at many places just over $200. Get it while you can. Only deficit to me is it does not have wireless capability but fine printer
did you go to a store that sells the canon and Epson for a demostration???
I just bought the Epson 1430 and It prints beautifully. I decided against the Canon because of the print head cleaning issues.

Yes, yesterday I went to my local Staples to test the Epson 1430. Unfortunately, the sales person could not persuade the printer to do anything - not even print a test page. Same result with and Epson 2200 - nothing. So much for Staples as a source of this printer.
I plan to test the Canon today, if I can find a local example.

Glad you posted this question. I saw the Artisan yesterday at Staples on sale for $249.00 and I'm considering it. I've read some reviews that really pan it - particularly in printing B&W. I'm also looking at the Canon 9000 before they're totally gone.
I guess my question really is, if I'm purchasing a large-format printer, should I settle for a 13" or move on up to a 17"? I currently get Costco's 12x18 and 16x20 prints and occasionally do a 20x30. Printing my own would be fun, even if more expensive.
And some time back I read that Canons don't print on canvas. Is that true? I bought some linen paper and my current small Canon won't print on it.
I travel a lot and while I was gone the Epson would clog from dried up ink. I went through two of the 13x19 models, then finally wised up and bought a Canon Pro 9000 Mark II It's been 2 years with NO PROBLEMS, and the machine makes beautiful prints.
My experience with Canon and Epson printers is that Epson has a better warranty and awesome customer service. Canon - not so much.
If the specs are similar, go Epson at least for printers.
I own a Canon Pro9000 and LOVE IT. I sell my prints and people constantly remark about the wonderful colors of my prints. I use Canon paper, Canon ink and Canon printer! It's my personal trifecta!
Have a Canon Pro 9000 MKII, Does everything I need it to do, been very happy with the color and have had no head plugging problems, the web has instructions on how to take a part and clean if necessary, don't know how hard it is to do as I have not had a problem.

I recently bought the Artisan 1430 and could not be more satisfied with it. No problems so far and beautiful prints.
I was told to keep your printing heads clean, clean the heads at least once every two weeks is not used in a week thats from Canon.

It's good advice. I do that myself
