My wife is nuts... (Camera)
I was reading Bob prose and checked the price of the Hassie he mentioned.
Since my BDay is close, I told my wife that it would be a nice BDay gift. A new camera, cost about $7000,00. She looked shocked at first then went... "Yeah I can pull it off"
I had one heck of a time to say it would be a waste and that I will be happy with my Christmas gift, an espresso machine. (I have been considering options since November last year - I am slow on the 'purchase' trigger).
So, Bob, dear conspiracy friend Bob, STOP GIVING ME IDEAS!!!
Unless that money is earmarked for something else, why not treat yourself? Or rent it for a week?
It is not about finances, we can afford it.It is about the idea she would agree for an absolutely insane purchase. This is the body only so add lenses and... Oops, 15K down the drain when I really have no need for it, even if I am drooling.
Bob is guilty from my inordinate use of washcloths.
There's also a rather nice Patek Philippe on eBay at the moment going for $3,500,000 as an alternative to the camera...
Can i borrow your wife for my BDay

It's nice but it just isn't the same as the 500CM of the 1970's/1980's. It doesn't look right. Yeah, I know, but it just doesn't look right. I'd have to pass just for that.
Rong… who is going to enjoy it more… you and the camera or the kids and your money?
All of my current favorite cameras were gifts from my DW! Except one. She will see me being fascinated by something and surprise me. She sees what I might want but can't justify any sort of need.
Included are an M4/3 Panasonic with a 800 equivalent lense for wildlife, a waterproof and rugged Olympus for bad weather days, a compact M4/3 travel camera in a sporty leather case and a drone! All are good at shooting RAW photos and 4K video!

It might be nice but it doesn't come with a flexible rubber strap.
Of course not, that's another 3/4 mill.
What were you thinking??
I am trying to convince my wife that a Leica Monocrom would be a nice birthday present. Then she saw what it costs. But, I said, I have been wanting one for years and you do appreciate the black and white pictures I take, this would just make them even better.

Just because you can
doesn’t mean you should. It’s not a sin to spend money, but with all the people in the world that are starving and are homeless. It’s a sin to waste money. Are you a professional photographer? If not how can you truly justify having your wife spend that much money, “Just because she can !”
