Rehash, I took so many pictures of incense sticks in bottles a couple years ago, I thought I would blend a few more together so I didn't feel like I wasted my time in a dimly lit room. The 20mb limit makes it difficult to see the detail in some of my larger smoke pieces, Some of these are at the 200mb limit posted here, and those I had to shrink down to fit. https://www.flickr.com/photos/larrygoeb/albums/72157711787239331

Well done!

Simply amazing! Glad nobody opened a window while that was going on.

Even the cat walking by would disturb these amazing patterns.

I wonder if you would care to share details about your technique - backdrop, lighting, whether flash was used, shutter speed, etc.?

I used a black sheet for the backdrop, but if you have a large enough room you might not need it. I used two flashes and a couple LED lights. one was on the back of the bottle to illuminate the contents. Shutter speed was dependent on the flash, 1/250 sec F11. I had to use baffles to light the smoke and limit light to the bottle. Lots of trial and error. Flashes point toward camera off angle (cuts light to background).

The next level was this smoke circle. easer set up (no bottles) But processing was a pain. One plum copied and transposed over 250 times. The final file was over 90 gigs (think on high res picture copied several hundred times.
Used an A1 flash 1/400 sec f13.

I love this. You can really see the details. Every time I look, I see different images
What speed and focus did you use? Lighting?

Fascinating. Looks like there was some mirror imaging and Photoshop layer blending as well?

You are right, In Photoshop I used Edit/Transform/Horizontal and then Used the blend mode for the bottle shots, the smoke circle uses some of the same but the same smoke picture layered over 250 times the first one took awhile,
