So I've got a shoot planned for September and was thinking about maybe renting a couple of Canon L series EF mount lenses. Has anyone here done something similar and what was the expectation vs reality? Which company did you rent from and would you rent from them again?
Lensrental.com or borrowlens.com. Makes perfect sense to do this as opposed to buying a lens. Get the insurance.
if you are in Los Angeles and only need a lens for a few days to try it their daily rate is good for an entire weekend. If longer Ive had good success with borrow lens

An alternative to Lensrentals.com is aperturent.com. One or the other many be more convenient, depending on where you live. I have used both, and they are both equally good. Sometimes one or the other will not have what I want, so consider that.
I concur with all the replies.I have been most satisfied with my Lensrental experiences. In some cases thd lens of interest turned out to be not something I wanted. Other. cases determined that the lens in question did fit my needs and expectations, I might have purchased it from a Canon price watch . Com deal.I bought the Canon EF 24-70 II through their tent to buy program have very satisfied. I highly recommend it.

If you are only interested in using a special lens for a special occasion or trip, renting rather than buying is the best option. Renting only once to check out two choices of lens is a little more expensive but can be worthwhile. My choice of lens rental is Lensrentals.com. They have just about any lens in any brand that you would want. I have used them before to test out the Olympus 12-100 f4 Pro IS lens on a 13 day trip to Germany. I now own the lens because it was as useful as I thought it was going to be as a general purpose / travel lens.
This seems like the place to try out a lens to see if you like it or just had a mild GAS attack

Lens Rentals & yes I will again. Also a good way to test out a prospective purchase.

I already have 12-40... Do you think 12-100 is a good move or redundant ? I am DYING to get 12-100 but afraid 12-40 would sit in drawer forever... What do you think . I don't sell...
