Just read a news article featuring a recent interview with Melissa Gilbert. She has given up the Hollywood/city life and moved with her husband to what appears to be a secluded place in the Catskills. From a photo taken by Melissa the house appeared to be abandoned- old food containers with food contents still in cabinets, etc. The place is obviously an advanced Fixer-upper. Most everything but the house frame needs replacing. Of course, I doubt that financial hardship will enter the equation.
I rarely read such interviews, but I liked “Little House” and Melissa’s role in the saga.
Most movies she made as a grownup did not interest me. However, she starred in a Christmas holiday movie that I enjoyed. I have the dvd and watch it most every year as I consider it in the realm of Christmas classics. The movie title is “A Holiday Time for Love”. Story content includes love, good guys, bad guys, comedy, and good old fashioned sentimentalism.
Hey, Jerry! You might have a celebrity neighbor in them thar hills😊.
I don't think she is all that wealthy any more. After being married so many times I'm sure she was taken to the cleaners and now she owes the Fed gov and CA gov back taxes well over $300k. She's negotiated a payment plan to repay taxes. I think she is finally happy with a more simple life where she can be just her, not what Hollywood expects from it's community of actors.
Melissa Gilbert is on t.v. right now. What you need to know is interviewing her to talk about her new memoirs.

I'll start looking for that house this afternoon - or maybe tomorrow - or the next day.
