Here is the second HDR shot that I did, it is true HDR. Taken with my KodakZ990 ( olny camera I own), Denoised in After Shot Pro, then tonemapped in Photomatix Pro, and Tweaked in PSPX4.
If you're using software that allows layering, then take a duplicate of your HDR image and adjust the transparency, which allows you to moderate the more extreme HDR effects. Haloing has really got to be fixed with a burn and dodge tool, which is more selective in how it works.
