Sorry, but we had a change of plans. (Thanks for the feedback)

Going to the Costa Rica (instead of the Galapagos) mid-end of May.
Same questions-Have a Nikon Z6 and a Z50.
Leaning a bit to the Z50 as a weight saver while touring, as well as taking part in activities.
I have 16-50, 18-140, and 50-250 dx lenses for the Z50- and 40mm, 24-200, 14-30 fx lens
for the Z6.

What do you guys recommend?
Again, many thanks
Ken

I also have Z50 and Z6 (Z7, too). If I were going on this trip, I would have taken Z6 with 14-30 and 24-200.

Hi Ken…All depends on what you enjoy shooting. If you like wildlife then your Z6 and a long lens. I live on the west coast of CR and flew back to the states for a visit last night. Believe me, you can work magic there with most lenses in your kit! Enjoy your trip!!

Hi Ken, the end of May should be the start of their "Green" season (meaning rainy). However, there are several ecosystems with a variety of weather. If you're spending time in the cloud and rain forests I would take the Z6 as it seems to be better weather sealed. It can be very humid and I've had issues with condensation in the mornings. You should check out ways to prevent that issue. There is so much wildlife there, finding good shots shouldn't be problem. Some will be very close, some not of close. The good thing about photographing sloths is that you never have to be in a hurry! You can drink the water anywhere and it's a very safe country. Very friendly people. The guides are excellent at spotting birds, Good luck and enjoy!

Are you aware of the covid conditions in CR? I talked today to my friend that lives there and there are many restrictions in the Country. Just be aware.

Here is the website for the Tourist Board. All updated Covid info will be there. The country is pretty open.
