Good thing you didn’t send me to town for pecans because that’s what I thought they were.

Yum - olives! I heard a National Park Ranger explain one time that when they gave walking tours they liked to pocket a green olive, and when a bunch of deer crap was spotted, they would explain that if you were lost in the woods and hungry, you could eat the deer poop - and palming the olive, they would reach down and appear to pick up a turd, and pop it in their mouth - to the shock of the crowd of tourists!

I've been up in Alaska many times as I married an Alaskan girl almost 53 years ago. The local artisans would take these, dry them, then varnish them and make genuine Alaskan "moose nugget" jewelry out of them. The favorite was earrings that would dangle off your ears. They sold like hotcakes to all the tourists.

BOSTON BAKED BEANS
An Old Salt at my dads hunting camp always initiated a young boy on his first hunt with "George Jones", who was known as the "Daniel Boone type", of the camp

George would stop at the first pile of deer dung, reach down, pick some up to eat. he said it was doe in heat just 20 minutes ago. Then the next pile was buck in pursuit, just 10 minutes ago. Be on the alert.
It was years later that he had a pocket full of Boston Baked Beans candy
I held him in awe for several years.
