The "Mom and Pops" are fading into obscurity. When I was a kid they were on every other corner and a couple of pop bottles would get you a bag full of candy.
And so it goes.

What memories! We used to sneak by the back door of our local hangout and "abscond" with a handful of bottles the owner stored there. It was then walk to the front of the store and cash them in for candy.
He knew very well how the game was played but being a good-hearted soul, let us get away with it. :-))

My uncle had his store in the corner of the huge apartment building he owned. It was a favored spot when school let out. The school was right across the street. The school remains.

Really nice night shot!

We had four out in our farming community. Then there were three, then two, then one, now none. I miss them.

Another time and place, almost a different dimension. Would that we could go back and appreciate it more than we did. Who would have thought they would vanish like they have. Gone the way of the drive in movie. Thanks for the mind trip, great shot.

Where I grew up there was one only three blocks from my home. All the neighborhood kids bought sodas and candy there. Great memories, thank for posting.
