Thank you very much for the nice compliment, Bob. Somebody else asked me that very question not too long ago, and I still don't quite know how to answer it :-D Just to share a secret though...I always did want to play keyboard in a band :-D

Fantastic images- you just keep amazing me with your talent! Is your piano playing as good as your photography? I was a musician in the big band era. Now I'm giving away my age.

Thanks very much, Cheryl! You can find the recipe way back on page 2 of this post. Our hummers are gone too, but we're hoping to have some from the western states come and winter in our yard this year. Hope this recipe brings you lots of birds.

I absolutely love this photo and i would like your recipe. I normally photograph Hummingbirds, but mine are gone for the winter months. So, I put up a suet block and they aren't coming to it at all. I don't get why they don't like it, so maybe homemade suet will attract them. Please private message me with the recipe, I sure would appreciate it. thanks, Cheryl

You're very welcome. If I remember right, it seems we've attracted around 15 different kinds of birds with it.

This is a "teen" Red-bellied woodpecker enjoying a hearty meal. Anybody who wants the recipe for the peanut butter mix that draws birds in droves, let me know :-)

We spend a small fortune on wild bird seed and suet balls. I would appreciate your recipe to attract more birds and not so many squirrels.

Hi Macro, the suet recipe is on page 2 of this thread. If you want to only attract birds and not squirrels, add about 1/4 cup powdered cayenne pepper to the melted peanut butter and lard mix before adding dry ingredients. The birds love the pepper, and the squirrels will leave it alone after one try.

Thanks very much, Carolina! Our pair of Red-bellies must have had 4 broods this year. This bird is from one of those :-)

You're very welcome, Christine. If the birds aren't immediately attracted to it, give them time. Sometimes birds are suspicious of something new, but they usually accept this mix pretty quickly. Looking forward to hearing about all the birds you attract.
