I am thinking of purchasing a Nikon Z6 camera and a Nikon Z 24-70 f4 lens. My question is the lens. Is the f4 lens that seems to be the kit lens very good. Do any of the readers use this lens and what is their opinion on it.Of course money is a factor and sinceI am to old to even buy new shoes I would like to avoid an increase in lens price but I want something that is good.I would like personal users advice and not chart advice. Thanks

If the lens is a kit lens, you get it anyway unless you buy body only. Take it; try it; decide.
It out-performs the F mount "holy trinity" 24-70 f/2.8 in every category except distortion and vignetting (and maximum aperture obviously). In other words it's very sharp, has very little fringing, has good contrast, good flare resistance and is not prone to ghosting.
It's also small, light, weather sealed and can be had second hand for less than $500. The colouring of the lens coatings gives the glass a distinct blue tint, and I get the impression that the photos taken with it have a slight blue tint, but a slight nudge of the WB slider takes care of that (I'm not entirely convinced it's the lens. It might be my camera).
I own this lens and am blown away by its sharpness.
I’ve never thought of it as a kit lens since it fits a kind of niche, as opposed to the 24-200, which covers a whole lot of ground. The $1000 or so price point also puts it out of kit category to me.
I bought this lenses with my Z7 and by any measure it’s terrific. Sharp, very light weight and sealed. Some who need/want dreamy bokeh break out the wallet for the f2.8 lens instead. Not something I need in this range. It’s my go to lens.
I bought the Nikon Z6 with the "kit" 24-70mm f/4 lens and it is a real jewel. I have yet to be limited by its f/4. If I were ever in need of another, I would not hesitate to get one.
I added a set of extension tubes that fit in my pocket. It makes this great walk-around lens become a great macro lens.
THANKS EVERYBODY. FOR YOUR REPLYS. I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME. I THINK THIS WILL BE MY LAST CAMERA PURCHASE. I FEEL THE SHUTTER COUNT WILL LAST LONGER THAN THE PHOTOGRAPHER (ACTUALITY TABLES) BUT I WANTED TO DO SOME FULL FRAME JUST TO SAY I DID.

As a regular user of that combo, I seldom buy shoes but the Z6 + 24-70 is an easily affordable no-brainer. I use mostly some decades old lenses on various adapters. The 24-70/4.0 is my only lens that fully activates all the modern conveniences of the Z6.
Full dizsclosure: The 24-70 would remain my sole native Z lens if Nikon were NOT peddling a cheap 40mm. I looooves me some 40mm. I already have two adapted to Z ... but $269 for a compact native 40/2.0 ?!?!?!? Come to Papa !
40 and me goes back to my Miranda. Tiny little 40/3.5 Cassaron.
