I watched a video yesterday. Mike Moats did one for NiSi with their 58mm close up lens with no power rating ie 10X.
I have extension rings but rarely use them. I have always thought any auxiliary lens degrades resolution. experience or thoughts?

Raynox is better option and more affordable
I use Raynox 250 & 150 and Canon D250 & D500 close-up attachments with excellent results. No name products for bargain prices are a definite no-go!
Thanks, I have a Optika wide angle lens, great fun. I ordered their 10x 58mm for $20 the price of a toy.
Interesting, though. I've heard of the NiSi lens, but I've got Raynox lenses and I do like the convenience of the spring loaded clamp that they come with. I don't know if NiSi is optically better or about the same.
Raynox also makes more powerful diopter lenses besides the ubiquitous 150 and 250 models, but I don't hear much about those.
I too have raynox lenses including some of the more powerful ones. They work well for me I use them for > 1X magnification with my macrolens (60mm m. Zuiko). I find replacing the clamp on ring with a filter step down ring to be better. The threads on the raynox lenses either 37mm or 43mm. DCR 250 is 43mm and the higher mag ones are 37mm.

Extension rings are hollow, no glass. So they should not cause any resolution degradation. They just extend the lens further from the camera.
Biggest hurdle with ext. tubes you lose a lot of light
