I need a watchmaker...
Sorry, can't help you now, but my father was a jeweler, and my grandfather was a watch/clock maker. I can't begin to remember the amount of happy quiet hours that I spent sitting and talking with them while they worked. Both of them worked with such tiny intricate pieces it never ceased to fascinate me! Happy days, I miss both of those gentlemen,
Ray.
A little history first. I worked near 30 years for a New York retailer that was known for it’s quality home goods and very fine jewelry and watches. Unfortunately the retailer closed about 13 years ago, however the watchmaker they sent out all their expensive and prestigious watches for repair to, still continues to do repairs and and restorations.
A few years ago he restored a watch my parents had gotten for me on my 16th birthday, a Solvil Titus, FYI I turn 64 this November, to working condition for a few hundred bucks. The watch when I looked on e-bay listed for a few thousand dollars! So I consider it a decent deal. You can call or e-mail them to inquire on your watch.
