I am using a Dell XPS 7760 All-in-one running Windows10. Have had nothing but problems with it from day one. To fix all the registry problems, I run "sfc /scannow" as administrator. That works for a couple of days or so and then I need to run it again.

If that’s the case, I might consider reinstalling Windows. Personally, I really dislike Norton - bloatware of a high order and often causes issues. I prefer Windows Defender (kept up to date) plus SpyBot and Malwarebytes.

With many of the YouTube videos I get this Playback ID error message. I was hoping someone on the UHH forum could explain why this is happening. I think it began happening after I installed Norton 360 but I cannot be sure.
I am including a screen shot of the message.
Thanks in advance for any help, FiddleMaker

I have Norton 360 on all mt computers and have no issues with YouTube.

I have never had any trouble with Norton. Nor have I ever had a virus.

Interesting - that all is well with Norton at your end. It is possible that I have a Windows setting set wrong.

First uninstall Norton, restart and see if there’s any change. If not, you can always reinstall.

If I had an unstable system, I’d first uninstall all aps that load on startup and then read all the logs.

I would take it as a warning that the site was not really safe and find another video to watch. Just saying.

I get the same error message when using Chrome. But not for every video. Most of them play well on Chrome, however if its something i really want to see, I switch to Firefox and usually it plays fine. or even Edge.

In the past 2 years during covid, I have watched a lot of YouTube videos every day, and I also use Norton 360. I have never seen or gotten that message when looking at a YouTube video. I am no expert on Norton, so I can't say for certain, but I wouldn't think it is your Norton 360 causing the issue.

Jerry, yes -I am sure the problem is at my end. I may uninstall all this Norton stuff and get a virus protection app from another vender.

I would highly recommend ESET Internet Security. I've used it for years and years and it never causes trouble and keeps me out of trouble. You can usually get it for a discounted price from Amazon, and when you go to install it, ESET will give you the latest version automatically.

srg, my problem happens when the YouTube video is embedded or is part of a product commercial as in the case watching a Nikon video or something from William Sonoma, etc. There are YouTube videos where I don't encounter this playback ID error.

If you uninstall Norton you may want to see if there is a 3rd party uninstall program. Norton is notorious for infiltrating everything in the computer. Using the windows uninstall only gets part of it. The norton uninstall leaves most of it.
I have not used Norton for about 15 years for that reason. Late last year they informed me that my credit card didn't go through for the renewal. (The card had been changed because some dip decided to use it for some rather large purchases). But I couldn't understand why it was that they were trying to renew after some 15 years.

I don't know about Norton but I have had issues with other things and ended up with someone from India or other countries and what I do is ask where are you located? and when they reply I say nothing personal (and respectfully) but can you forward this call back to the USA? most of the time they ask me to hold while they forward the call. I would also like to add for me it's the women from Inda that I cant understand they speak very fast and with lots of accents and some of the men speak better English than I do.

Yes, I think it will come down to that.

That's the best idea!!! Why not just use Widows Defender. It does the job without causing problems or slowdown. And it's free.
