I've found they have equipment in stock that a lot of other places cant get their hands on...
When the Nikon 500mm F/5.6 were back ordered all over New York, they had 3 of them in stock.

The 'famous' location is Central Camera Company @ 230 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60604.
https://centralcamera.com/But, their hours are rather limited, now only Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 2pm on the days when open.
Dodd Camera is just OK @ 2844 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647.
https://doddcamera.com/I prefer Roberts in Indianapolis over Dobbs for this style store.
PJ's Camera & Photo Supply is well out in the Western suburbs @ 662 Roosevelt Rd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
http://www.pjcamera.com/cgi-bin/store/cp-app.cgiAgain, Roberts in Indianapolis would be preferred if you really want someplace physical to shop.

I have a Wabash ukulele, made on Wabash Avenue in the 1940s.
An outstanding creation ☀️🎖️☀️🎖️☀️

When did they rebuild Central Camera? I heard it was burned down in 2020.
It was burned down during the George Floyd protests.
I was planning on visiting Chicago and Central Camera last year but cancelled when a conflict arose. I have visited Roberts Camera in Indianapolis.

Will be in Chicago for a day or two and wondering what camera stores would be honest places to look for a new or used camera. Thanks in advance
I have used Phototronics in the north suburb of Winnetka for 25 years. 996 Green Bay Rd, Winnetka, IL. Bought several cameras and lens there and gotten good help when I needed something hard to get or advice. See Scott Dalhmeyer or Keith Franson. 847-446-7510.
Frankly it is hard to beat B & H.

Did the store where you purchased the ukulele sell cameras? and can you play the Wabash Cannonball on your Wabash Ukelele?

Really is it any where near the old Lion Photo store? Just checked Google Maps and sure enough it is at the old Lion Pho store. I bought lots of my stuff there since the late 70's. Glad to see that it's still a camera store.
Yes, that’s the one. It’s nice to have a local brick/mortar store around instead of buying everything online.
