I was over at Home Depot yesterday and I needed two pieces of wood that they cut for me. When I tried to put in my car, I discovered that they were 1" too big to fit in the car unless I wanted to drive without a seat back. A carpenter saw my dilemma and helped me by driving the boards to my house and refused a tip. I had 6 pieces of bead board that I was going to throw away and he indicated a desire to pay me for them. I gave them to him. Was that a largesse?

Absolutely…for both of you.

I love stories like that.

Took my wife and daughter to I-hop for breakfast. When it was time to pay I asked the waitress how much she wanted for a tip. She asked how much it should be, or how much she wanted? I said, how much do you want? She was quiet for a while and said $100.00. So that’s what I gave her. I just can’t believe how much joy that has given me for the rest of the day.

Be kind, be generous, and experience the joy of giving.

No offense intended. As I said, it’s just my opinion. I feel that good deeds are best done in silence. Of course publicizing your generosity may encourage others to do the same and that’s good👍

That was the point, Dannj. He was trying to encourage people to be generous to others. Why some people have to put a negative spin on a good deed is beyond me.

How times have changed. I was a busboy at a nice restaurant in 1970. A waitress received an $8 tip. She was ecstatic. Word of the tip quickly traveled to all waiters, busboys and others.
At the time eight bucks was a lot of money. (You could buy a baseball glove, or 30 gallons of gas for your car. (Assuming gas was .25 cents a gallon).
