I have a Dell KM7321W. I can put some pressure on the keys without generating characters. For some reason Logitech keyboards do not last too long on me. This one I've had it for a year and I'm happy with it. It is not lighted though. You can find it here and can always return it.

Don't know what model of Microsoft you had but I am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard 3000 v2.0 Model 1379 and as others mentioned I also rest my fingers on the keys. Never had any problem with keys activating. In fact I just tested and even when I gently tap my fingers on the keys, nothing happens. Don't know how old it is - Amazon has one for $64.99 with free delivery (keyboard - mouse combo). Amazon didn't give the model # so don't know if it is exactly the same.

I don't know either what Microsoft keyboard model I had, but the model you mention here sounds like a good possibility if I can find one new. Won't need the mouse, but price of package is cheap enough to not worry about it. Thanks.

I would like to buy one that is not so touch sensitive that the shadow of my finger tips activate the keys😕. The previous one I had was Microsoft. I tossed that one because of over sensitive keys. There are only two stores in my area that carry computer supplies. Both carry various brands, but neither offer open box units for customer testing. And of course sales persons had no knowledge of the particular product characteristic I am looking for. Thus, I bought a Logitech model that was as bad as my previous ones. Have kept it for a couple of years and now want to see if there is a model that has a less touch sensitive characteristic. I touch type but I need my fingers resting lightly on the keyboard. As of now, I am correcting typos by the dozens.
Any advice re a suitable keyboard will be appreciated.

Ducky has mechanical keyboards for the gamers. They can be customised with different colored switches for the exact feel you require. Google Ducky or mechanical keyboards. Note these are not wireless.

I have a Logitech K360 for the past 20 years. It was and still is perfect. It is wireless.

You will notice on here that there are a lot of recommendations for Logitech. I stopped using anything made by Microsoft; they are made to fail! Logitech is very good and I have used them for years. Also note that on a lot of keyboards you can go into their property link and adjust the sensitivity how you want it.

I've also had the logitech K360. Have never had a bit of trouble. Since you have had trouble with all brands and models I think your problem is probably something else.

I expect your real problem is the fingers always resting on the keyboard. I expect they are not as light as you think! I have had various makes of cordless keyboards and have never experienced your issue. The current one is a Logitech and I find it takes a real tap on the keys to activate.

Thanks for all the replies. I decided to order the Microsoft 3000. Hopefully, at the least it will not be any worse than the Logitech 800 I am using now.

You should try a keyboard with mechanical keys instead of membrane. They are typically wired but there are probably some wireless. I am particularly fond of Corsair keyboards and love my K70.

After the USB keyboard is installed there are setting you can make the touch light or heavy on the keys.

I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad keyboard model KT-1255. I also touch type and this has the same excellent feel as the ThinkPad laptops. It is rechargeable and the charge lasts for months.

I have an old Logitech K120. I've used it so much the lettering on the keys is wearing off. (good thing I'm a touch typist). Anyway, this Logitech KB has a very good, firm tactile touch.
